POLZEATH & THE CAMEL ESTUARY
Polzeath is situated on the North Cornwall coastline. It is famous for it fabulous surfing and sandy beach in addition to all the wonderful coastal walks. Polzeath beach, is one of the UKsfew Blue Flag beaches. The beach is a large expanse of sand faces in to the Atlantic at the mouth of the Camel Estuary. With many small coves along the sides of the beach, it is the idea spot for family beach days. Though, Surfing is top of the agenda at Polzeath – the beach is ideal for everyone. The gently shelving foreshore, creates the perfect beach for paddling, and swiming - as well as surfing from the beginner to the accomplished.
Holiday Cottages in Polzeath, just a short stroll to Polzeath's popular surf beach, village surf shops, food stores, and cafes/restaurants. Polzeath beach tucked into the Camel estuary can boast of being one of the safest surfing beaches in the British Isles. Numerous warm tide washed pools and fine golden sands make it a child's paradise. As well as being famous for it's magnificent surfing beach, Polzeath is also situated on the beautiful North Cornwall Coastal path. The local area has wonderful walks to Pentire Head and The Rumps, Rock, or Port Isaac and beyond.
Daymer Bay is an easy walk away and it is a five minute drive to the sailing village of Rock as well as to the Black Tor Ferry which operates across the river to the fishing town of Padstow.
Nearby, local golf courses include the renowned St Enodoc's at Daymer Bay and Rossarow Country Club. Polzeath has many activities for the energetic, such as fishing, sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, water skiing, banana boat riding, tennis, horse riding, and cycling along the Camel Trail. The River Camel offers opportunities for river trips, water skiing, fishing and sailing either at Rock or Padstow.
Nearby is Rock and Daymer Bay which offers Sailing and water ski-ing. There is a passenger ferry that operates daily from Rock to Padstow. There is the Camel Trial which is for cycling and bikes can be hired in nearby Wadebrige. The Polzeath, Port Isaac and Rock area of North Cornwall, has many local restaurants, bars, cafés and pubs, - for serious "foodies", try Rick Steins in Padstow, or Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' at Watergate Bay. If the weather is inclement, the famous Eden Project is about 30 minutes away and there are several other attractions nearby.
The nearest large town is Wadebridge. Situated about 7 miles away, it hosts all the major banks, a large supermarket as well as a good range of other shops.
