Tintagel Castle

Tintagel King Arthur's legendry castle with spectacular clifftop location, connected to the mainland by a slim finger of land. Over the centuries much of the castle has fallen into the sea and very little remains today, but it is worth the steep climb up the steps to either part of the castle for the setting alone.

Launceston The castle at Launceston dominates the surrounding landscape - perched on top of a large, natural mound. The Castle was the ultimate status symbol of Middle Age wealth and power.   St Catherine's Castle

Fowey Remains of o a small artillery fort built by Henry VIII to defend Fowey harbour. It has two storeys with gun ports at ground level. Below the 16th century fort is a two gun battery built in 1855.

Restormel Castle

Lostwithiel A Motte and Bailey castle with a huge circular keep, sited on a hill above the River Fowey, 1˝ miles north of Lostwithiel. The Normans probably built the first castle in about 1100, but this wooden castle was replaced in the 13th century by a new stone construction.
