1 HILLSIDE is a comfortable, well-presented 2-bedroom holiday bungalow in Kilkhampton, North Cornwall. The Penstowe Sports and Leisure Club on site offers an excellent range of things to do. But many of our guests prefer to use the bungalow as base for touring Cornwall and Devon, or to enjoy the many delightful and varied local beaches or one of the picturesque coastal walks.

Our bungalow has everything you need for a perfect holiday

1 HILLSIDE overlooks the wooded grounds of Penstowe Manor. It is semidetached and has been sited to obtain maximum privacy. There is a southwest facing patio and sloping grassed area in front, bordered by mature trees.

The bungalow is finished to a high standard with TV, Freeview and DVD player in the lounge and wall-mounted heaters in all the rooms. The living area includes two comfortable leather sofas and a dining area. There is a fully fitted kitchen with microwave oven, and a bathroom with an electric shower over the bath.

The owners have personally managed 1 HILLSIDE for some 40 years. We have an excellent knowledge of what our guests look for, so you know you will have a personal contact.

1 HILLSIDE has two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with twin divan beds. Duvet covers and bed linen are provided and are freshly laundered for you each week.

Facilities for all at Penstowe Manor

Penstowe Park is under new management, who have made major improvements in the Park and to the range of entertainments offered.Within the 18th century Manor House is the Penstowe Sports and Leisure Club.

The Club is available to guests staying at 1 Hillside and offers: a heated 22 metre indoor pool, 2 restaurants, the cabaret suite with dance floor, 3 bars, free live nightly entertainment (in the main season), take-away, children’s entertainer, children’s club and activities, tennis, squash, badminton, amusements, pool tables, big screen satellite TV, free Wi-Fi internet access, hot tub, hairdresser, massage and beauty treatmentand a well-equipped gym.

No charge is made for entry to the Club, but there are small charges for use of the indoor pool and some of the sports facilities.

The STABLE INN has recently re-opened and offers food and drinks to guests. It is just two minutes from 1 HILLSIDE.

There is a launderette on site with coin-operated washers and dryers. The footpaths and driveways are lit at night.

The Beaches and the North Cornish Coast

The nearest beach is Sandymouth which is 3 km away (5 minutes drive) with plenty of parking. The coastal walks in the area are spectacular. There are many other safe clean sandy beaches and coves within a short drive.

Bude's Summerlease beach is renowned for surfing (above). Boating on the Bude Canal (left) is popular. There are rock pools for children.

The whole coastline is environmentally protected.

At the end of August, the Bude Jazz Festival takes place and in September is the Bude Food Festival.

Kilkhampton Village and Bude

Kilkhampton Village is just five minutes walk from the bungalow and is full of Cornish character. It has a couple of pubs and two food stores. Kilkhampton church is believed to date back to 1130.

The nearby town of Bude offers a wide range of shopping facilities and several eating places. There is a leisure centre, an 18 hole golf course and two large sandy beaches
