A warm, stunning Cornish Holiday destination in a quiet spot with fantastic beach and coastal views
For pet lovers,, Mawgan Porth allows dogs on the beach all year round.
Above all, it is the view and quiet proximity to the
tremendous beach that makes it so special and an ideal holiday apartment.
Brilliant for families or relaxing adult breaks.
Mawgan Porth is not in the least bit commercialised.
It has 2 shops, with wetsuits and surf board hire, a café restaurant,
a pub and a beach car park (set back out of sight of the beach). There
is a pitch and putt course at the end of the road
Watergate Bay is a few miles down the road where
Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant has opened and Padstow,
a charming harbour town is approx. 6 miles along the coast road where
Rick Stein's famous restaurant is (book early!)
Good golf courses and riding stables are in the locality, sea and river fishing is popular as are sailing and wind-surfing at Rock, near Padstow.
Bike hire along the Camel Trail is always
good fun. And just down the road, a 3 minute walk, is the new Scarlet
Spa where Day Escapes can be booked for a real treat.
There are fine country houses and gardens to visit, the
Eden Project, and family Adventure Playgrounds. The cliffs for
many miles are protected by the National Trust, including the magnificent
scenery of Bedruthan Steps just 15 minutes walk away. Many other
fine beaches and coves are within (hearty) walking or short driving
distance.
Newquay, a "busier" seaside resort is approx. 6 miles south along a spectacular coast road, and is very popular with teenagers. Mainline rail, supermarkets, art galleries and surf shops are to be found here.
Lastly, daily flights from Stansted and Gatwick come into St. Mawgan airport for those in a real hurry!
