Falmouth
is acknowledged to be one of the most attractive resorts in the
whole of the country. Boasting three safe sandy beaches and the second
largest natural harbour in the world. You can enjoy fabulous watersports
of every kind - sailing, fishing, diving, windsurfing and surfing. Play
golf, sunbathe on the beach or visit a local attraction such as the
superb National Maritime Museum and historic Pendennis Castle.
Falmouth Town Centre offers a host of facilities and entertainment's - good shopping, art galleries and entertainment of all types. Seafood is a speciality and there are many fine restaurants and pubs to visit.
To the west of Falmouth you will find Maenporth and Swanpool beaches - ideal places to relax with the family during your holiday in Cornwall. The historic Harbour Town of Falmouth, is the perfect base to relax and explore the delights of Cornwall. This busy little coastal port, is a hub of waterside activity, with moorings and marinas catering for the resident and visiting yachts that sale the local waters. Falmouth offers the visitor a host of good restaurants, boutique shops and art galleries. We recommend a visit to the superb new National Maritime Museum and historic Pendennis Castle. A perfect central location for exploring the whole of Cornwall.
A short ferry trip will take you across the Estuary to St Mawes, where you can explore the delightful and picturesque village; the home to St Mawes Castle, the sister fort to Falmouth's Pendennis Castle.
Westward from Falmouth is the stunning Helford Estuary ( made famous in The du Maurier novel -"Frenchman's Creek" ) and the Lizard Peninsula. This is a stunning region of Cornwall, with dramatic coastline, and beautiful coves and beaches. The remains of the BT Goonhilly Earth Satellite Receiving Station still dominate the central landscape, with "Arthur" the largest satellite dish from the original array, still in place, pointing skyward, though no longer in use.
