Helford, Helston and the Lizard Peninsula are an ideal base for touring and visiting the many places of interest which can be found in the area. These include of course the historic market town of Helston, famous for its annual Flora day, with its myriad of shops and cobbled streets and the towns of Penzance, St. Ives, Truro and Falmouth which are also both within easy driving distance of our cottage. The very popular St. Michael's Mount at Marazion is only a twenty minute drive and has a wonderful safe and sandy beach for the children.
The beautiful Lizard Peninsula with its varied landscape and many attractive coves and villages is not to be missed and is well worth exploring.
Walkers should not miss the wonderful experience of visiting the nearby Loe Pool, Cornwall's largest inland freshwater lake, which is separated from the sea by Loe Bar, a narrow shingle bank. Legend says this is the home of the Lady of the Lake and where King Arthur's famous sword Excalibur lies!
