The Purple House rooms were converted from a former flower barn used to store them when they were collected from the adjacent fields. The Purple House, being a 17th century cottage, was notably used during the second world war as a remote getaway for advisers to Winston Churchill. Recent renovations to the property and grounds have seen the house return to it’s original roots, now a selection of flowers and shrubs are grown, and available to buy, in the gardens of the building. Lands End Just over four miles from Lands End, a short distance from Penzance and St. Ives, surrounded by picturesque beaches at Gwenver and surfing hot-spot Sennen, The Purple House is perfectly situated as a base to explore. Closer still is the small town of St. Just, just 5 minutes by car, picturesque and atmospheric with galleries, pubs and restaurants. As well as the best and breakfast on the first floor, the barn on the ground floor has now been converted into the working studio and gallery of local artist Janet Treby A range of works, original paintings, prints, cards and other art products are available to purchase from the gallery. |
