Location
Treknow
is a spectacular location on Cornwall's dramatic and windswept Atlantic coastline.
This quiet hamlet is an ideal location for walking or visiting some of Cornwall's
historic sites, houses and beautiful gardens (The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the
Eden Project, etc.) The nearest town, Tintagel, is a small historic
holiday town, famous for King Arthur's Castle. It has good local shops e.g. Londis,
Spar, a fantastic butcher, and plenty of cafes and pubs. Trebarwith
Strand is a dog friendly sandy beach with rock pools, some large enough to swim
in. Surfing at Trebarwith is very impressive and there is a summer surf school.
The beach is manned by lifeguards during the summer months. There
are beach cafes, shops and ample parking. Trebarwith also has
two very good local pubs: The Port William, a family friendly pub, overlooking
Trebarwith Strand and further up Trebarwith Valley, The Mill House, which has
a beautiful new restaurant. Port Isaac, about 20 minutes drive,
is an historic Cornish fishing port. Polzeath, which has one of the best surfing
beaches in Cornwall, is about half an hour away. The well-known
Rock and Padstow area is about 45 minutes drive.
