The old ration shop is a newly refurbished cottage for two. White and bright, stylish and contemporary with Farrow & Ball colours, designer fabrics and a good mix of old and modern complemented with original art, plus all the mod cons for a comfortable year round holiday. In the summer sandy feet on cool white boards and in the winter a cosy retreat. Views are of farmland, cliffs and the sea glimpses beyond. The South West coastal path is nearby offering beautiful walks in both directions passing fabulous beaches and overlooking the bluest of seas. The Halzephron Inn (twice best in Cornwall, Good Pub Guide) is a short stroll away with its popular restaurant.

The old ration shop has been completely refurbished with the accommodation arranged over two floors and is attached on one side to the owners cottage. From the private enclosed Mediterranean courtyard garden, double doors lead to the entrance hall and the bedroom. The double wrought iron bed has a quality mattress, luxurious duvet and is complemented with crisp cotton bed linen. Off the hall is the wet room with a white suite comprising shower, basin and toilet and Travertine mosaic tiled floors.

On the first floor is a light and airy open plan living, dining and kitchen area with double height ceilings and lovely views over gardens, farmland and the coast with sea glimpses. The bespoke painted kitchen has black granite worktops and a Belfast sink and is well equipped. Throughout are white painted floorboards and rugs.

Outside is a Mediterranean style courtyard garden with climbing Jasmine, geraniums and olive trees.

Location

The old ration shop, as the name implies was the ration shop for the village of Gunwalloe.

Gunwalloe is on the coast with Loe Pool and Porthleven in one direction and Church Cove, Poldu beach and Mullion in the other. It's a haven for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and beachcombers. The closest beaches for safe bathing and surfing are Church Cove with its famous St Winalloe Church and Dollar Cove (45 minute walk). Closer (10 minute walk) is Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, a huge sweep of sand that passes Loe Pool, part of the Penrose Estate, and on to Porthleven. There are strong currents off Fishing Cove and swimming is not recommended.

St Ives is approximately 40 minutes away, home of the Tate Modern and numerous galleries, restaurants and surf shops. Cornwall has many beautiful gardens noteably Heligan and The Eden Project, both an houraway. The fishing villages of Cadgwith and Coverack are 20 minutes away. The old ration shop is well positioned to explore most of Cornwall.
