Holidays in Sithney Churchtown, The small hamlet of Sithney Churchtown at the western head of the Lizard Peninsula is a traditional Cornish village with a Grade I listed 15th century Parish Church and a Grade II listed Old Methodist Chapel. The local tea rooms serve Cornish cream teas and within walking distance from the property there is a renowned Bistro and Restaurant. There are also some lovely walks nearby. Sithney Churchtown is close to the historic Port of Porthleven - which is just 2 miles away. From Porthleven, you can go on fishing trips that leave from the impressive harbour on a daily basis during the main holiday season, or just relax in one of the many cafés and pubs overlooking the harbour. Also within this village there is a small supermarket, shops and restaurants. The charming market town of Helston approx. 2 miles away has a museum, shops, cafés, pubs, swimming pool, boating lake and the famous Flambards Theme Park. The town also has a cinema and night club. A few minutes drive out of Helston is the Seal Sanctuary which is situated in the village of Gweek, this is where the rehabilitation of the coasts injured seals takes place. The artists haunts of St Ives, Penzance and Newlyn are each about 25 minutes away. This coast has many sandy beaches which are great for surfing, swimming and sunbathing or just a nice walk through the narrow cobbled streets of Cornwall.
On the way to Penzance from the property you come across the ancient market town of Marazion which is famous for St Michael's Mount (national trust) this sits out at sea and can be accessed by regular ferry or if the tide is out it can be reached on foot via the causeway. Once on the mount you can walk around the gardens and the castle. The world famous Minack outdoor theatre carved in the cliffs of Porthcurno is a must for all visitors, an experience not to be missed. The beautiful county town of Truro a cathedral city is approx. 35 minutes away and is arguably the best shopping experience in Cornwall. For a more cultural evening there is the Hall for Cornwall which has many bands and plays on throughout the year. Falmouth is approx. 30 minutes away with its own marina and The National Maritime Museum which is of great interest. You can also visit Pendennis castle overlooking Carrick Roads which belongs to the national trust and is lovely for a historical day out.
