Chy-an-Ky is a privately owned bungalow open all year round. It is situated on the edge of the Kenegie Manor grounds, a small quiet holiday park in West Cornwall. The park offers a number of facilities free to all visitors between early March and October, including a heated swimming pool and sauna, a licensed club (opening Whitsun weekend), tennis courts, putting green, and a children's play area.

The bungalow can sleep 6, though it is more comfortable for just 4 people. There is a double sofa-bed in the lounge. The flat screen colour TV has a digital freeview receiver built in, and a DVD player attached. There is a small selection of books, including a number which relate to the locality.

The shower room includes shower, hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. There is a shaving point for an electric razor.

Both kitchen and shower room were totally renovated during 2009.

There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom.

LOCATION

The entrance to the holiday park overlooks Mount's Bay, dominated by St Michael's Mount, a National Trust property which can be reached on foot by the causeway at low tide. It is less than 2 miles to the heliport serving the Isles of Scilly. Day trips to the Scillies may also be taken on the Scillonian III which sails from Penzance daily.

The town of Penzance is close by with all the usual shops, and some less usual ones too. St Ives, a notable artist's paradise with the St Ives Tate and Barbara Hepworth's museum is only a few miles away. Newlyn Art Gallery is another place nearby that is well worth a visit. Do not miss a trip to the awe-inspiring open-air Minack Theatre near Porthcurnow.

Lands End is about ten miles from Penzance; the world-famous Eden Project near St Austell is further away, but still readily accessible for a day visit. In the same direction, the Lost Gardens of Heligan can be visited too, whilst close at hand are the renowned Trengwainton Gardens (National Trust).

The Lizard Peninsula offers stunning land and sea-scapes, with its unusual serpentine rock, as well as a vast array of sea-birds. Choughs nest here, and have now spread along the South Cornish coast towards Land End. Birders must also visit the Hayle Estuary and the many other superb birding sites in the area. For walkers and hikers, the South West coastal footpath is well-known and easily reached in many places. Even if this does not appeal, do not miss a drive along the North Coast road between St Ives and St Just.

The engine houses of tin mines abound everywhere around here, and Geevor Mine in the Pendeen area provides a fascinating guided tour. Archaeologically, Cornwall is unique in having one of the country's best maintained Iron Age settlements in Chysauster (English Heritage), pretty well within walking distance of Kenegie Manor. Lanyon Quoit, an early Neolithic long barrow is close to the road between Madron and Morvah.

There are many Golf Courses in the area; at Cape Cornwall, Lelant and Praa Sands for example. Cornwall is renowned for both sandy and surfing beaches, and Sennen, close to Lands End, is an excellent example of both.

  • The bungalow is fully double glazed and there are electric heaters installed.
(There is no charge for electricity)
  • No pets allowed.
  • No smoking allowed inside the bungalow.
  • Bed linen is provided, but please bring your own bath, hand and tea towels for your stay.
  • There is a launderette on the site, open between March and October. There is also an ironing board and iron in the bungalow.
  • A ramp is available to allow entry of a wheelchair through the main entrance of the bungalow but as the bungalow is rather small, door widths inside may limit its movement.
