Run to the Sun has been running for 22 years now and has grown into one of the largest VW, Custom Car and entertainment festival since its conception.Cranstar Event Management and its official home is at Trevelgue Holiday Park, Newquay, Cornwall. Run to the Sun was created from a natural affinity between the car and beach culture, the surfer's love of the VW Beetle and the upsurge in popularity of the customised VW as a trend setting mode of transport. When the festival was launched way back in 1987, seventy cars turned up but it has continued to grow each year. Now thousands of car enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond travel to Newquay to indulge in this annual festival which attracts somewhere in the region of 80-100 000 visitors each year. Run to the Sun has evolved over the years, and it would be true to say that it is not solely a CustomCar and VW festival. There are many different elements, which contribute to its unique image, not least of all its location in the Surf capital of the UK. Run to the Sun 2009 is just round the corner with an extensive entertainment line-up to suit all tastes. We are bringing you more world-class DJ's, talented live bands, side splitting comedians and of course the VW’s and Custom Cars. Tregunnel car park in Newquay town centre hosts the Show 'n' Shine on the Sunday of Run to the Sun. The event lasts all day and attracts somewhere in the region of 25,000 people. The Show 'n' Shine is an opportunity for the Run to the Sunners and members of the general public (as this event is open to non-ticket holders as well) to put their vehicles on full display.
