Our bungalow has everything you need for a perfect holiday

1 Hillside overlooks the wooded grounds of Penstowe Manor. It is semi-detached and has been sited to obtain maximum privacy. There is a south-west facing patio and sloping grassed area in front, bordered by mature trees. 1 Hillside has two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with twin divan beds. The bed settee in the lounge can accommodate a further one or two persons. There is a fully fitted kitchen with microwave and a bathroom with an electric shower over the bath. The bungalow is finished to a high standard with TV, Freeview and DVD player in the lounge and wall-mounted heaters in all the rooms. Duvet covers and bed linen are provided for the main beds (but not the bed settee) and are freshly laundered each week.

1 Hillside is privately owned and managed by Bob and Meryl Somper, so you know you will have a personal contact.

Facilities for all at Penstowe

Within the 18th century Penstowe Manor is the Penstowe Sports and Leisure Club. The Club is available to guests staying at 1 Hillside and offers: a heated 22 metre indoor pool, 2 restaurants, the cabaret suite with dance floor, 3 bars, free live nightly entertainment (in the main season), take-away, children’s entertainment, children’s club and activities, tennis, squash, badminton, amusements, pool tables, big screen satellite TV, free wi-fi internet access, 3 indoor bowls rinks, hot tub and sauna, hairdresser, massage and beauty treatment. There is a launderette on site with coin operated washers and dryers. No charge is made for entry, but there are small charges for use of the indoor pool and some of the sports facilities.
The footpaths and driveways are lit at night.

Around and About

While there are plenty of activities and attractions at Penstowe Park, many of our visitors choose to use 1 Hillside as a comfortable base for touring and exploring Cornwall and Devon.

The Beaches and the North Cornish Coast

The nearest beach is Sandymouth which is 3 km away - 5 minutes drive, with plenty of parking. The coastal walks in the area are superb. There are many other safe clean sandy beaches and coves within 10-15 minutes drive. There are rock pools for children. And the beach is renowned for surfing (above left). Boating on the Bude Canal (above right) is popular. The whole coastline is environmentally protected.

Kilkhampton Village and Bude

Kilkhampton Village, which is just five minutes walk from the bungalow is full of Cornish character . It has a Post Office, a couple of pubs and two food stores. Kilkhampton church is believed to date back to 1130.

The nearby town of Bude offers a wide range of shopping facilities and several eating places. It has a leisure centre, an 18 hole golf course and two large sandy beaches.
